A Nation of Zombies

I'm usually reticent about making politically motivated blog entries but today I was having a to-and-fro via email with a friend of mine when she made a statement that, especially in light of the hoopla surrounding a certain TV show here in Australia, I felt was too good not to quote:
It's a pity that the people who watch Big Brother don't equally scrutinise the behaviour exhibited on that other reality TV show, 'Parliament Question Time'.
Here, here.

"Order, order!!!"
No matter how many times Mr.Speaker uses the hammer, the reality tv show contestants just wouldn't listen.
"Order!!!!!!"
Mr.Speaker should be replaced by a robot, since he doesn't seem to do anything useful.
And every week we should vote out one of the contestants :p, let's start with that cool one with the black eyebrows.

Tony, we get a chance to vote out _all_ of the contestants every three years. Unfortunately, we don't seem to be able to take advantage of it.

Unfortunately the Parliment Show has decided to have a "vote to save" method rather than a "vote to evict" method.
I'd much rather get to vote people off, but instead I have to pick one to save.
